On December 15th, with the theme of “Science and Technologies of Future Food Boosting the High-quality development of Marine economy”, the 2023 Southeastern Science and Technology Forum, jointly hosted by Fujian Association For Science and Technology, China Institute of Food Science and Technology and Fuzhou Municipal People's Government, and organized by our school and Institute of Food Science and Technology of Fujian Province and other units, opened in Fuqing. Experts and scholars, including Chen Jian, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor of Jiangnan University and Professor Xie Mingyong of Nanchang University, delivered keynote speeches. Zhu Pengli, Vice Chairman of Fujian Association for Science and Technology, Shao Wei, Executive Vice Chairman of Chinese Society of Food Science and Technology, Lin Zhiliang, Vice Mayor of Fuzhou Municipal People's Government, and Wu Keshou, President of FPNU, also attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. More than 100 experts and scholars nationwide gathered to discuss on the high-quality development of food science and marine economy. President Wu Keshou extended a warm welcome to the leaders and experts at the forum. He pointed out that Southeastern Science and Technology Forum is a premium academic brand of Fujian science and technology and has given a strong boost to resources connectivity, integration of technologies and economy and high-quality industrial development. Our school is exploiting unique advantages - focusing on food and other characteristic discipline, to accelerate the constructions of Yuanhong Campus and national food safety testing center and serve China-Indonesian “Two Countries Twin Parks”. Taking this event as an opportunity, our school gets more academic knowledge, resources and talents for the deeper integration of industry, university, research and education, faster transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements, and more high-quality development in the field of marine food with an aim to make dedicated efforts to Fujian’s writing its chapter in Chinese modernization.

In the keynote speech session, academicians and experts made wonderful cutting-edge academic reports. Academician Xie Mingyong of Nanchang University delivered a speech entitled Proactive Healthcare -- the Efficacy of Dietary Therapy. He introduced the concept of proactive health, stressed the importance of preventing disease and maintaining health. He pointed out that dietary therapy, as an essential health management, plays an irreplaceable role in proactive healthcare. Academician Chen Jian of Jiangnan University delivered a keynote speech entitled Biofabrication and Future Food. He went deep into the importance and application prospect of Biofabrication in food industry as well as the way to promote the high-quality development of food industry by technological innovation with breathtaking lightness. He hoped that the participants would pay attention to foodomics and bring the research in food discipline into a new era by foodomics.

With its theme, the Forum exerts an effective impact on implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important spirits of adopting a “Greater Food” approach and advancing the strategy of innovation-driven development. Academicians and scholars take this forum as an opportunity, through the share of technical exchange cases, to bring new ideas to building practical and scientific academic exchange platforms and explore the integration of future food science and technology and marine economy, as it seeks to build “blue granary” and effectively promote the high-quality development of marine economy.
